Ryan Saba to Speak at OCBA on Independent Contractor Misclassification

On July 13, 2015, attorney Ryan Saba of RosenSaba, LLP is a featured speaker at a luncheon round table discussion to the Orange County Bar Association on the hot topic of independent contractors in the California workplace. Along with attorney Heidi L. DeGroot, Esq. of Sessions & Kimball LLP and mediator Michael D. Young, Esq., Ryan will discuss the challenges California employers face in reducing and managing risks while at the same time maximizing productivity and maintaining an attractive workplace.

For example, the use of sub-contractors, temporary staffing leased employees and independent contractors in addition to (and sometimes in lieu of) a regular workforce can be tools to meet these challenges. However, a flexible workforce, if not implemented properly, can cause extensive and unanticipated liability. This seminar will educate the employment practitioner on recent cases and statutory developments in this area of law, highlight the “red-flag” issues that can lead to joint employer liability and liability for misclassification of independent contractors and provide practical advice on how to manage exposure.

This seminar qualifies for 1 hour of MCLE credit.
